Mac Campers Terms and Conditions
The Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the services of Mac Campers by people wo are hiring out our campervans. It is recommended, that you read these Terms and Conditions carefully before any booking is made.
The following Terms and conditions apply to the hirer:
- Duration of the hire from Mac Campers, the hirer must have valid driver’s licence. This licence must be accepted in the UK and in every other country the Hirer visits while the vehicle is rented.
- Anyone driving the campervan must be aged 23 or over and have at least two years driving experience ((Full UK, EU, AU, US, CA, NZ & SA licence types) and proof of this must be provided truthfully.
- The hiring driver and any other additional drivers during the rental period must not have more, than two, 3-point convictions, a single 4-point offence on their driving licence.
- The hiring driver and any other additional drivers during their rental period must not have more than one fault or outstanding incident/claim in the last three years against their driving licence prior to the booking with Mac Campers.
- The Hirer has not been convicted (nor has been convicted in the 8 years prior to registration as Hiring Party) of driving under the influence (alcohol and/or narcotics), reckless driving, driving without insurance or insurance fraud.
- The Hirer is not (and has not been) excluded or refused by any insurance company because of reckless driving, and no additional requirements have been demanded because of this – for instance: higher insurance fee, a higher Deductible, and/or limitation of coverage) in the 8 years prior to their registration as a Hiring Party.
- Anyone driving the vehicle does not use any medication and does not suffer from any disabilities or conditions which may impair their ability to drive or the legality of doing so. They must declare any use of medication that would be of relevance to the owner and their insurer to ensure this does not void the cover of the owner’s insurance policy for the hire.
- The hirer must provide the following documents prior to the hire:
- Copy of the photo card drivers’ licence (address & ID must be up to date) *
- Online DVLA licence check
- The hirer must provide Mac Campers with two proofs of address from separate sources and copies of these must be dated within the last 3 months. The following documents can be accepted:
Electricity (bill/statement) • Water (bill/statement)
- Gas (bill/statement)
- Broadband/Landline
- Council tax
- TV licence
- Bank Statement
- Credit card bill / statement • Mortgage statement
- Polling card
- HMRC self-assessment / tax credit
- Student loan
- Shotgun licence • Payslip

- Car finance statement • Loan statement
- Property deed
2.0. The hirer may provide the annual council tax bill as a proof of address. All other documents must be dated within 90 days of the hire date. The address & name on your licence must match both documents.
2.10. The Hirer is obligated to provide a DVLA share code upon request. If there is no satisfactory reason given as to why this has not been provided, Mac Campers is not obliged to provide the vehicle on the collection date.
2.14. Mac Camper provides insurance for the booking period; the Hirer must be able to provide all the documents requested no later, than 72 hours prior to travel. If a booking is confirmed within 72 hours prior to travel the traveller must provide these documents on the same day as booking confirmation. Mac Campers reserves the right to cancel a booking and apply standard cancellation charges if sufficient documentation is not provided within this time frame.
2.15. By registering as the Hirer, all requirements mentioned above must be met. If these requirements are not met (or consequentially fail to be met at any point prior to or during the rental), Mac Campers reserves the right to terminate any bookings without a refund.
2.16. The Hirer is solely responsible for any damages and charges that are caused by not meeting the requirements mentioned above.
Rental agreement
3.1 The Rental Agreement becomes applicable upon a booking being confirmed by the Hiring Party.
3.2. The hiring party is obliged to comply with the following requirements in relation to the Owner:
- The Hirer or any additional drivers are over 23 years of age.
- The Hirer and any additional drivers are able to operate the campervan.
- The Hirer and any additional drivers have no more then 3-point convictions, a single 4-point offence on their licence at any one time.
- The Hirer and any additional drivers are the same person, as named on the booking.
3.2. The Hiring Party handles the camper van with due care and in compliance with Mac Campers requirements and the relevant highway law.
3.3. The Hiring Party does not make any changes to the campervan, or the inventory.
3.4. The Hirer is responsible for ensuring that only those people are permitted to drive the campervan who have been authorised by Mac Campers’. The Hirer must not sub-hire the campervan or permit any other party to use while it is being rented.
3.5. The Hirer must comply with the maximum number of passengers, as outlined by Mac Campers, at all times. The maximum number of passengers is equal to the maximum number of people that can legally be seated in the vehicle.
3.6. If a vehicle visits an undeclared country, a forfeiture of insurance cover may be applied and the hirer may be held legally and financially responsible in the event of damage and/or any other consequence deriving from the undeclared geolocation or prohibited by this contract.
3.7. The Hiring Party is required to carry out instructions provided by Mac Campers, as recorded on the Rental Agreement.
3.8. During the rental period the Hiring Party is responsible for aspects of the vehicle maintenance and management, e.g. checking the oil and coolant levels (at least every 1000 Miles).
3.9. The campervans are equipped with a GPS tracker, but this will not be used to infringe on the hirer’s privacy.
4.0. The Hirer is responsible for all fees and charges related to the status, location and safety of the campervan during the rental period.
4.1. Any drivers registered to operate the campervan during the hire are forbidden from consuming alcohol and/or narcotics prior to and during the operation of the campervan, must not violate any local traffic laws and must comply with the rules set out in the Rental Agreement.
4.2. The Hirer, Mac Campers, and any other designated drivers all sign the Rental Agreement, which is a legal document outlining their agreement regarding the condition of the vehicle at the start and end of a booking period.
4.3. The campervan must be returned after the hire with the fuel gauge displayed in the same position as noted in the Rental Agreement at the time of the collection.
4.4. The hirer must report any faults of the vehicle prior, during and at the end of the rental period.
4.5. Both parties must sign the Rental Agreement at the beginning and the end of the booking period.
4.6. Following the hiring period at the point of the return of the campervan, the Hirer must declare any damages. The Rental Agreement will be signed, but the security deposit £500 will be withheld until all inventory check is completed. If the hirer rented any other extras, the condition of these will be checked withing three days from the date of returning the van.
5. Cancellation
5.1. Mac Campers can decline any Booking Request at their discretion.
5.2. In order to secure the booking, the Hiring Party is requested to pay 20 % of the full amount of booking fee at the time of the booking.
5.3. Final payment must be received no later than 3 weeks prior to departure.
5.4. Hirer must pay in full if the booking has been made as a last minutes booking within three weeks of departure.
5.5. The Hirer may -at any time- cancel the booking and the following cancellation fees apply:
- Within 1 day prior to departure 100% rental fee is payable.
- Within 1 week prior to departure 80% rental fee is payable.
- Within 2 weeks prior to departure 60% rental fee is payable.
- Within 6 weeks prior to departure 40 % rental fee is payable.
- Within 10 weeks prior to departure 30% rental fee is payable.
- More than 10 weeks prior to departure 20% rental fee is payable.
5.6. The Hirer must pay a refundable security deposit of £1000  two weeks prior to departure.
5.7. Security deposit is refunded when the booking is cancelled.
5.8. In case the Hirer returns the campervan prior to the agreed return date recorded in the Rental Agreement, any Rental amount will not be refunded.
5.9. In the event of cancellation by Mac Campers of a confirmed Booking the Hiring Party will be fully refunded and any further payment obligation will end.
6.0. Mac Campers may propose a replacement vehicle to the renter.
6.1. If the hiring party does not pick up the campervan on the day of collection, the booking is regarded to have been cancelled by the hiring party (unless agreed by Mac Campers prior to departure.) The Rental Amount will not be refunded in full or in part as a result of this.
6.2. In case of the breakdown of the campervan if stranded on the roadside and cannot be repaired, Mac Campers will refund the rental fee for the days not taken, from the time of the breakdown to the end of the holiday, unless Mac Campers can offer a replacement for the duration of the remaining days of the original Rental period . The renter is still responsible for the fuel and other operational costs of the replacement vehicle.
6.3. If the defect occurs or is noticed during the Rental Period, the Hiring Party must immediately report this to Mac campers, so that this can remedied.
6.4. The Hirer is liable for any damage to the campervan and/or inventory, or damages that they cause to a third party with a deductible charge to the Hirer to cover the cost of damage/loss.
6.5. If the damage is greater, than the security deposit of £1000, Mac campers reserves the right to process this through the insurance.
6.6. Countries, which are in a partial or full state of war, or where war or unrest is foreseeable, can absolutely not be visited.
Damage, retrospective costs and fines
7.1. In case of any damage occurred to the campervan on hire by Mac Campers and / or the third parties , the Hirer must collaborate with the Insurance process and allow the Police to file a report where necessary. In the event that the Hiring Party refuses to complete the claim form without a valid reason, the full amount of the damage (without taking into account the Excess) can be imposed on the Hiring Party.
7.2. At the request of Mac Campers, a statement detailing the circumstances leading up the damage’s occurrence must be given. Without it, the renter is responsible for covering all repair expenses.
7.3. Any losses incurred by Mac Campers as a result of the campervan being seized by police by law enforcement or the justice system due to allegations that the hiring party was in possession of drugs, was driving recklessly, failed to practise due diligence during the rental, or was otherwise involved in a crime or traffic violation will be payable by the hiring party. Legal or other expenses incurred by Mac Campers will be entirely charged to the Hirer.
7.4. Any costs associated with break-ins, losses and/or theft brought on by the hiring party, as well as any damage caused on by impeachable failures, grave negligence, or intentional recklessness on the part of the hiring party or any passengers or guests in the vehicle, will be fully recovered from the hiring party and will not be limited to the booking deductible.
7.5. Mac Campers is never liable for any personal, psychological, material, consequential- or injury based damages suffered by the Hiring Party, caused by use of the campervan, a mechanical error, a traffic accident, or a single/multiple damage event, unless the damage is the result of a defect of the campervan that Mac Campers had prior knowledge of without informing the Hiring Party.
7.6. Mac Campers reserves the right to claim retrospective costs from the Hirer, including, but not limited to; additional kilometres driven, traffic fines, toll-charges, damage, Â late return, need for a deep clean of the campervan on hire due to lack of care, smoking in the van and taking dogs when this was not previously agreed.
7.7. In the event of late returns, reasonable costs may be recovered from the Hirer.
7.8. Mac Campers will aim to carry out a full inspection of the vehicle and inventories within 5 days from the closing of the rental period. Within this period, Mac Camper may indicate any additional charges and block the security deposit if required to cover cost.
7.9. In case of the breakdown of the campervan resulting in the Hirer being stranded, Mac Campers may offer a replacement vehicle for the remainder of the holiday until repairs can be undertaken. If Mac Campers are unable to offer a replacement vehicle, the Rental fee for the time not used during the Rental Period will be refunded.
8. Description of the additional costs
8.1. The Campervan must be returned by the Hirer following the rental period in a clean condition, this includes the exterior and interior of the vehicle. If the Hiring Party did not pay the additional cleaning fee at the time of the booking, cleaning charge of £40 is chargeable if the campervan is returned in an unsanitary condition.
8.2. Mac Campers may refund any costs of emergency repairs from the Hiring Party only if those costs were necessary for the continuation of the traveller’s journey.”
8.3. Mac Campers reserves the right to charge a fee should the following occur :
- £250 (including cleaning costs) if the traveller was smoking in the campervan.
- Bringing pets: £250 (including cleaning costs) if this was not previously agreed with Mac Campers.
- Taking the motorhome abroad: £250 (plus any consequential damage, for example, unsecured damage to the motorhome or third parties) if this was not previously agreed with Mac Campers and the additional EU insurance has not been paid.
- Taking the motorhome to a winter sport area: £250 (plus any consequential damage, such as unsecured damage to the motorhome or third parties); if this was not previously agreed with Mac Campers.
- Visiting a festival: £150, if this was not previously agreed with Mac Campers.
 Payment
8.1. When booking with Mac Campers an option of making a full payment or 20% deposit will be provided.
8.2. If the Hirer makes the booking two weeks prior to departure, full payment will be required.
8.3. If the Hirer opted to pay the 20% deposit, final payment must be made no later, than three weeks prior to departure.
8.4. All payments are managed in collaboration with Stripe. Â All Users must accept the Stripe Service Agreement and meet the conditions set in order to be paid.
8.5. The Hiring Party permits the Security Deposit required by Mac Campers to be paid or to be held on the credit card or via Paypal. This Security Deposit can be used after the Rental Agreement has expired, to pay any additional costs owed to Mac Campers.
8.6. These Terms and Conditions are relevant to any use of the Service and to the Rental Agreement.
8.7. Mac Campers reserves the right to change or add to these Terms and Conditions at its discretion. The most up to date Terms and Conditions are to be found on the website.
Registration and Account
9.1. A user is may create an Account as outlined on the website. This guarantees that the information provided whilst creating the Account is complete and correct. During registration a user is required to enter a username and password, which will allow access to the Platform and the Account.
9.2. A user is solely responsible for the adjustment of their information if circumstances change resulting in any details no longer being correct. The user acknowledges and understands that for the website to function effectively all information on the Account must be as complete and accurate as possible.
9.3. The user is solely responsible for keeping their password and username a secret. They are not allowed to share their username and/or password to third parties or allow third parties access to their Account in any way. A user must notify Mac Campers as soon as they know or suspect that their username or password has been stolen. The user is obliged to take necessary measures to safeguard the Account, such as changing the password.
